My students need an iPad to use for educational games and science research. We've learned a lot this year about different animals and we want to use the iPad to discover more!
My Pre-K students are a lively, loving bunch of three and four-year-olds who are growing into curious four and five-year-olds. They love exploring new materials and learning about the world around them.
My students come from one of the lowest-income communities in New York City, but they deserve every opportunity to learn and grow.
Many students have their most nutritious meal of the day here at school. In my Pre-K class, they are safe and they are valued. Our school tries its best to provide new materials for the children, but there is not enough room in the budget for new technology.
My Project
The classroom computer that we have cannot connect to the internet, so this limits what we can do. With a new iPad, the children would be able to play different educational games and research science topics that we've been learning about. We've learned a lot about insects, wild animals, farm animals, and marine animals this year, and the children still have some questions they want to know more about. Access to the internet would help us find out information like the difference between a cocoon and chrysalis.
I want my students to be able to use technology to enhance and extend their learning.
During center time, children could use the iPad to gain access to apps like Starfall ABC's, PBS Play and Learn, and ABCya. Working together to learn through technology will set the Pre-K students up for success on their educational path.
