Help me give my students an iPad, protective case, and screen protector so my robotics teams have an iPad to code our VEX IQ robots and take to competitions.
My students are future scientists, tech innovators, engineers, artists, and mathematicians who are eager to change the world. We are a small university town with a sizable ELL population as well as a Title I assisted school filled with students who are eager to take ownership of their learning and build 21st-century skills.
My students are passionate about learning and your donation will make it possible for them to solve real-world problems through critical thinking and design processes.
They are critical thinkers and hands-on learners who are eager to solve problems and change the world.
My Project
The primary goal of this project is to provide my robotics student with an iPad to code their VEX IQ robots for competitions.
These competitions are so important because they are an opportunity for students to show what they have learned in our robotics class where students learn programming, engineering, design, manufacturing, problem-solving, mentorship, leadership, collaboration, and communication skills – all skills that are critical for developing the 21st century skills that are needed for future employment.
In addition, students (1) achieve a working knowledge and skills in areas of engineering, design, programming and manufacturing/assembly, (2) understand basic programming skills through mastering the VEX IQ Blocks Code software, (3) increase problem-solving skills and gain an appreciation of creativity, invention, and innovation during the design process, and (4) develop an appreciation of teamwork, leadership, good sportsmanship, and mentorship as they help other students succeed. Learning such skills allows access to a future STEM career for students of all demographics and abilities. Based on data from the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation, 90% of students who participate in VEX robotics programs report an increased interest in studying STEM subjects and pursuing a future STEM career.
