My students need tablets to help them succeed in the 21st century, wobble stools to help them focus, pencils and supplies as well as a listening center to listen and follow along to fluent reading in their non-native language.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at my school are affectionate, courageous, and eager to learn. As English language learners, they are coming to school and learning 2nd grade material in a language that is not native to them. Resources are so important in our classroom as my students pursue different outlets of education. Our elementary school is located in an low income, rural area.
Many of my students do not have access to basic necessities at home, let alone books, supplies, and technology.
They rely on our school to provide them with this during the day. My classroom is accepting of all students and ability levels. We have a growth mindset, and celebrate every achievement.
My Project
In the 21st century classroom, technology is vital, which is why I am asking for tablets. Tablets can enhance books through use of audio and video. They give students access to a wide variety of interactive applications to enhance learning and take it to a new level.
When students listen to fluent readers, they become fluent readers themselves.
A listening center provides students with the opportunity to listen and follow along as a book is being read to them. It helps build fluency and comprehension skills.
Keeping a child’s attention on their school work can be difficult for any parent or teacher. Doing so when that child has autism, ADHD or some other learning disability can be even more challenging. Many of these kids have decreased muscle tone or a constant need for movement-based sensory input that contributes to fidgeting, slouching or soreness, making it tough for them to engage in learning. Wobble stools are an effective way to curb a students need to fidget and regain focus and attention in the classroom.
