Help me give my students headphones for learning on the computer without distracting others, as well as a Hue document camera to demonstrate and display work, lessons, instructions, and things we all want to see at once!
My students are brand-new to school. They are coming to me from the Congo and Somalia, some directly from refugee camps before they came to our country. They are learning all about their new school environment and adjusting to so many new things! They are also young learners and beginning readers and writers!
My students are learning to work together, to speak, read and write English, and to build critical school skills.
They are learning new skills, letters, sounds, and words everyday!
I'm trying to instill a love of school and learning in them so that they will continue in school with a happy heart and excited, curious minds!
My students live in the city of Columbus, Ohio. They are in an urban environment and adjusting to many changes!
My Project
My students are English language learners, and sometimes explaining work is difficult. A document camera will help me to SHOW them what we are working on and what the expectations are. In addition, it will provide us a way to all see something at the same time, such as science investigations and cool treasures we find outside. We will also be able to use the document camera to show off great student work and allow them to share what they've been doing with the whole class at once.
Having a way to show the students rather than just tell them is vital to their learning and English language development.
In addition, I am requesting headphones for students to use when they are able to listen to stories or play math games on the computer. With headphones, they will be able to hear clearly without being interrupted and without distracting their classmates.
