Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a low-income neighborhood and are in need of classroom resources to enhance their education through a more technological and differentiated approach.
My students have limited access to computers and technology, especially for educational purposes.
A small group set of tablets to give them access to specific apps to enhance their education would be a great addition to my classroom.
My students are exposed to technology from a young age, but to give them the opportunity to use technology in the class for educational purposes would be worthwhile.
My Project
My students have had experience with technology in their homes from a very young age. Now that they are coming to school for the first time, as TK and Kindergarten students, I want to give them the chance to use technology for an educational benefit and not to keep them distracted from learning.
I chose 4 Amazon Fire Kid Tablets alongside charging cables for my students.
There are some great apps available for them to practice their reading and writing skills from a young age that may be lead to great acquirement of those literacy skills. These tablets will be a great addition to our class to meet their needs for not only using technology efficiently in the class, but helping them meet the Common Core standards specifically addressing their literacy skills.
