Help me give my students iPads to help counteract the necessary skills they did not obtain during the tragic Hurricane Florence.

As a teacher in a low-income, rural area, my students face many challenges both inside and out of the classroom. It is up to me to provide them with a positive and enjoyable learning environment. My students have an endless desire to learn. It is my challenge to motivate and engage the very curious and relax the highly energized so that all of my students feel confident in their learning environment. I want them to walk in from day one and feel safe, loved, and part of our class, ready to accomplish anything!
Due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Florence, many of my students became homeless and lost most, if not all, of their personal belongings.
Their parents lost income due to the inability to travel to and from work or because their places of work were inaccessible or damaged.
The effects of Hurricane Florence on my students' education and learning was detrimental. It affected their ability to focus on learning, due to their preoccupation with circumstances. Some were unable to travel to school because they no longer had residences to be picked up from.
I'm requesting ten Apple iPad tablets. My struggling readers will often prefer to watch videos over read books, so BrainPOP will effectively parlay off that tendency to help build both math and literacy skills. Using Edmodo and Google Classroom, students will use the requested iPads to create products based on things they learn in class. They will explore the information that today's technology has made readily available and gain technical skills in order to become independent learners. They will use the 1:1 technology to build learning and career portfolios and gain the skills and confidence to become and remain successful in their education and future work environments.
Successful and efficient use of technology is a crucial skill to succeed in the 21st century.
Through using tablets in my classroom, students will achieve college and career readiness and obtain skills that they would not otherwise be able to obtain.
