Ms. Borrelli-Luke from Camden NJ is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an iPad mini to enhance lessons and assist as an added resource.

Medical Arts Students come into our magnet school from various different middle schools throughout the city-from different curriculum that lend to different base/foundation of knowledge. By the conclusion of the school year, the hope is that all the students are at the same level.
Medical Arts is a magnet school within the city that focuses on the medical field.
Students that attend Medical Arts want to go into the medical field and aspire to get accepted into college with a medical major. Unfortunately, our school is not a regular building. It is a converted warehouse and lacks many of the technology upgrades in order to stay in the 21st century. In the suburban outskirts, students are able to visit facilities that have computers for research purposes. Our students do not have those same options and we are limited to the availability of devices for students to utilize. Many students have to take several buses in order to get to our building. Students have got to leave their houses by 5:00am in order to catch their rides and to arrive to school on time. Unfortunately, they are against the clock when they leave at the end of the school day. The goal is to try and reach home before dark-in this violent ridden city. There are over 200 students that attend.
I will create stations with availability to different resources when students are challenged to research and seek information to complete assignments or projects. These opportunities will allow students the opportunity to have computer access and produce a higher level of work. This tablet will be a nice addition to the other resources that the students will have available to assist in research during class time and after school hours. The tablet will also be quick response/resource for immediate feedback during instruction.
Many students do not have computers or technology devices that allows them to deliver the higher level of work that is necessary in today's world.
This tablet is a way of leveling the playing field and giving my students that opportunity that they normally would not have.
