My students need three iPads to explore math, science, and language arts applications to further their knowledge and increase student engagement in the classroom.

I teach at a Title 1 California school.
A majority of the students are ELD and come from homes where English is not spoken. One third of my students speak English as their second language. On our campus, one third of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches. We also have the opportunity of mainstreaming children from the four special education classes on our campus into our classrooms. It is a special and unique campus that I have the honor of teaching at. These children have an intense enthusiasm and love for learning. They enjoy working together and solving problems whether it is inside the classroom or outside on the playground. School is a special place for these children and I am proud to provide a positive environment for them to attend everyday.
My Project
If my class is fortunate to receive these iPads, I will be able teach my students using the most current technology available. iPads are a valuable tool to reinforce and review concepts that are taught throughout the school year. The majority of my students often times do not get the opportunity to use technology such as this in their homes. Teaching with iPads does not only engage the students but gives them a reason to want to come to school. Essentially, iPads make learning fun. These iPads will be used many different ways in the classroom. Primarily, the children will be able to use applications that will enhance concepts that are being taught. I will use them for researching the Internet as well as reading books and stories. Children show more excitement for reading when done via an iPad. The students can also earn free time on them as a reward for hard work. These iPads will provide many opportunities for my students and myself.
These iPads will be extremely beneficial for my classroom.
They will bring current technology into my classroom that many of my students do not have at home. For many of my students, the classroom is the only place where they can experience technology such as SMARTboards, iPads and even computers. With these tools, I will be able to enforce concepts that are taught during the entire school year. Math, Science and many other subjects will become interactive and more exciting with these iPads.
