My Students

In today's society, the printed word often fights a losing battle with digital media. Having an alternative access to classic and modern literature will inspire my reluctant readers!

We are a very small, rural school district, but we have a disproportionate number of students who read below grade level.

These kids would much rather play video games than pick up a great book. In fact, many times just seeing a bound book with "all those pages" can be overwhelming to struggling reader and make him feel defeated before he even begins. Using a tablet computer will make reading seem more like a video game and will inspire these kids to read more age-appropriate material and challenge them to attempt more challenging stories.

My Project

Having access to new technology through the Lenovo IdeaPad tablet computer will open up new avenues for my students. They will be able to access books we don't even have available in our small school library. I anticipate that students will compete for the honor of using the tablet in class, which will enable me to encourage positive behavior.

In today's economy, technology in schools often becomes a luxury.

There are so many other necessary items to purchase for kids that technology must take a back seat. But this doesn't mean that my kids don't deserve the latest innovations that kids in bigger schools enjoy. Thank you for making these advantages possible for my kids!
