My students are very high level, college driven students. They are constantly wanting more: more information, more knowledge, more challenge. Many of my students come from affluent families, but our school has the typical monetary problem of limited technological resources.
My students want and need to be challenged on a daily basis.
Training future engineers, they need hands on experiences with top of the line technology every day and a classroom that integrates technology seamlessly. My students need to see how technology is used in new innovative ways and learn how to control and manipulate it to their own design.
My Project
My students are constantly in need of new materials to work with. In our ever changing world, engineering students are in a difficult situation; they are learning on and with technology that will be outdated before their education is completed. In order to stay relevant, teachers need to provide the most relevant technology for their students to train with.
The current trend in technology is the internet of things, and students need experience manipulating and training these systems to do new and unique things.
This project will give students hands on experience with these latest technologies including Amazon Echo, letting students discover the different ways they can program the device to use their voice as the controller. This will pair with the smart switches and the tv remote that is capable of controlling your whole environment. All of these devices can be programed and coded with students' imagination as the only limit. Gaining this cutting edge experience will be invaluable to their future success.
My students need to learn with the latest technology and they need the tools, ie computer mice, to successfully learn and use the professional engineering software because a track pad just doesn't cut it. Finally, my students need the ability to present their work by printing 3D prototypes with the provided filament and 3Doodler and printing posters on the large paper rolls to showcase their knowledge.
