In order to be successful in the 21st Century, students need to have technology skills that will help them in the world they are growing up in. Currently my classroom does not have enough technology available. My students are required to spend 90 minutes a week working on math and reading programs. We struggle to get this time due to our limited technology. Most of my students do not have computers or tablets at home, making their time at school their only access to the internet and learning based programs.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, our students are faced with many challenges, in and out of their time at school.
I want to make sure that each and every one of my students will have all that they need to make their time at school as productive as possible.
My Project
These laptops will allow my students to become independent and engaged learners. They need this technology in order to build on the 21st century skills that they will need to be successful.
Our school uses learning programs that require students to be engaged on computers for at least 90 minutes per week.
Very few students have the resources or support to get this time at home. Scheduling the time into our school day is crucial, however, we lack all the technology we need.
Students will also use these Chromebooks to complete projects, learn how to conduct research, take reading quizzes, and learn computer skills.
