Help me give my students a chance to compete with their peers in more affluent communities. These children do not have access to laptops and that causes gaps in learning that are very difficult to overcome.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hello prospective donor! thank you for taking the time to read about my students. We are an inner-city school that faces many of the challenges one might imagine. We are a trauma-informed school due to the high number of students who have experienced trauma in their life. Many of our students come from single-parent homes and are required to care for younger siblings. We are a 100% free lunch school and we have a yearly coat, hat & glove drive to get our students prepared for winter.
I am their math teacher and many of our students are behind by several grades.
Like most children, they are very tech-savvy and the reality of our situation is that we are lacking adequate technological resources.
My Project
The 21st-century workplace is computer-driven. Therefore, a 21st-century school needs to match that. Many of my students come from low income, trauma stricken neighborhoods. Their school does not have the resources to effectively engage them at a technological level. They are not learning safe, responsible computer skills and are not able to access curriculum specifically designed to help fill in the educational gaps. They need to be taught how to create on the computer. How to graph, create slideshows and power point presentations, learn how to work in excel. We need computers to do accomplish that. Please Help the leaders of tomorrow.
