Hello everyone! I am a third grade teacher working for a high poverty school district located in rural mid-Missouri. Our elementary school provides education to around 250 students. The poverty rate of the population we serve is higher than the national average, with around 65 percent of our students being eligible for free or reduced lunch.
On average, my classroom consists of about 20 students.
Each of these children brings unique talents and backgrounds that make our classroom family complete.
My students enjoy working with partners and in groups. They also enjoy learning activities that incorporate movement. Furthermore, they love working in math and reading centers and receiving the opportunity to interact with technology. This is where you come in!
My Project
These ten classroom Chromebooks will be used across all subject areas as a way to deepen student engagement. During writing, students will use the Chromebooks to conduct online research and type papers. Students will use the Chromebooks during our math station to challenge their mathematical understanding through programs such as iReady and Prodigy. These programs allow for differentiated learning which will enable students to work at their own pace and on their own level. In addition, students will use the Chromebooks during ELA by practicing their spelling words on SpellingCity and playing educational games that deepen their understanding of correct grammar usage. Through the use of programs like iReady, students will also have access to reading passages and comprehension questions that will correlate with the standards being taught in the classroom.
