Our school district serves approximately 671 students. The district is described as a seven square mile area that tends to be rural with an Appalachian culture in southwest Ohio. With a decline in revenue, our school district is the fourth poorest in Ohio's school systems.
Our school district may be small, but it is with purpose and intent that there will be a turn-around with a new focus of administration and staff.
The average median income is $24,930.00. This is a community in which the majority of the residents live below 200% of the federal poverty level. In addition, 96% of the students are economically disadvantaged and are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
In our language arts classroom, my students are constantly reading and responding. They love to talk and work with partners, so by using the microphones, they will be able to record each other with a much better sound than just a normal tablet. The microphones can be used when giving speeches, reading essays, sharing a book talk, giving a news report, the list is really endless!
Technology makes things better!
With the presentation remote, I will be able to move throughout the room as I guide the students through interactive presentations. My students often prepare slideshows and can use the tool as well.
The doorbell is going to be an awesome attention-getter! Often it takes a few tries to talk over excited, loud voices in order to gain the attention of the students in the room. With this tool, I will be able to gain their attention in 50 fun ways!
