Technology Enriched Classroom With Flexible Seating
My students need iPads, wobble chairs, and a comfortable seating group to create a more flexible, technology-enriched classroom where they are free to sit and learn in comfortable areas throughout the room.
I teach 23 wonderful first graders in a very small town. We have one elementary, one middle, and one high school. I would love to enrich my classroom with more technology, flexible seating and make my learning environment a fun and inviting space! Our community is small and our resources are limited. I would like to create a technology center where every student will have the chance to use these iPads. These students are worthy of your help and we would love to have your support!
My Project
These iPads will enable kids to record themselves while reading and then play it back to hear their fluency! This may also be a great tool to have available for parents at conferences to listen to their children read! We use a web-based reading enhancement program that we can access via the iPads. We also use IXL which is an online math program that is an extension of our classroom curriculum. Having our own iPads to access at any time will allow us to utilize these resources more often!
Flexible seating will ensure that everyone has a choice as to where they will work with the different seating options.
Having a more comfortable, flexible learning environment will allow students to learn in the least restrictive environment, problem solve and make good choices conducive to their learning. Students will be more engaged in their learning and take more ownership of the classroom through these materials and seating arrangements. If students like to stand while working, there will be taller tables to stand at. If they would rather be at floor level on a cushion or beanbag then they will have that choice. There will also be wobble chairs and stability balls that will allow the movers to still move but in a stationary position and with less disruption!
