This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have 160 smart and hardworking students taking Math Analysis, a precalculus class. They are the best students in our school, mostly are sophomores and juniors are extremely capable of taking further AP Math courses in Calculus AB/BC and Statistics. I really admire their willingness to learn and succeed for kids like them are the ones who always bring honors and achievements to the school's advanced placement program in mathematics.
My Project
Teaching and learning of mathematics concepts has been a great challenge both for me and my students. Our district's plan to move the instructional approach from virtual to hybrid creates more demands for extra resources, materials and equipment, the technology aspects of instruction.
During this pandemic, the lack of technology resources has been creating problems especially on reaching out to my students.
Every aspect has been tremendously affected especially communicating to students, creating learning online materials and delivering virtual instructions. It was also hard to grade and return feedback to student outputs when you have old equipment that don't allow annotations.
For these reasons, this project will really enhance the teaching and learning of precalculus. This will best prepare these young and talented kids for more demanding topics in Calculus next year.
