Help me give my students an iPad and voice recorder, so students can record themselves reading passages and listen to others, so they know what fluent reading sounds like.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are excited and love learning to read. Seeing their smiling faces when they can read a sentence or paragraph is what inspires me to continue teaching every year. I use a variety of learning strategies and activities to make learning fun and keep them begging for more. They love hands-on activities to keep them engaged. My students come from trauma-filled families and their education is not a priority at home. They do not have access to many books and help with homework but my students are eager to learn every day.
My Project
My students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are low academically. They do not see or use a lot of technology at home. Using technology in the classroom makes hands-on activities exciting for the students and keeps them engaged. When the students are engaged, their learning sky rockets. Students will be able to listen to what fluent reading sounds like through fiction and nonfiction. They will also be able to record themselves reading and practice their reading fluency. I will also record myself so they can hear me read to them. On the iPad, they will also be able to play learning games through apps.
