Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My district is a large district within the state and the school is one of the poorest in the district with little room for additional classroom needs. We have students who have little desire to learn because it is not engaging or worthwhile. Yet even so, these students have so much potential. I believe that if I am able to engage them, than they will not only begin to learn, but have potential to accomplish so much more than they believe.
My students are incredibly street smart and can problem solve outside of the classroom, as many of them are taking care of themselves and siblings.
This means that when they are in my class, not doing the work, it is because I have either not explained it well or they are not applying themselves because they do not have motivation. I believe that they are truly capable of being internally motivated if only given the proper push and tools.
My Project
My students need three Lenovo N23 Chromebooks with Licenses, in order to further engage my students with technology. We are a public school in a low economic neighborhood whose students do not have many opportunities to be engage with the wide variety of technology available to many others.
My students will be able to explore more opportunities via technology that could help change their minds about school.
So often our students give up by 8th grade at succeeding in high school, yet with these Chromebooks, our students will be on more equal footing than those who have these opportunities. Our students deserve equal opportunities and these Chromebooks can help them reach and discover these adventures. All students should be given the chance to explore what the world has to offer as technology advances. In my class, with these Chromebooks, that will become a reality.
