Ms. Bownas from Danville CA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Technology Choices for Differentiated Learners

My students need a Mac Computer and Apple TV, plus a 50-inch HDTV to create various presentations, projects, and ultimately learn to navigate the equipment successfully for future learning.

My Students

The goal I have for my students this year is for them to learn how to use technology as a tool, as a presentation choice, and as a way to problem solve. Technology is very important to our community, and children need to learn about its possibilities for their education and their future.

The students in our community come from homes where technology is valued.

We strive as a school to create and enhance our students' knowledge and inspire them to be life long learners. Receiving a grant from the Chevron Fuel Your School program will enable our students and future students to not only use technology but to learn how to navigate the technology for their particular needs. The students in my classroom come from all over the school district. Their parents are very involved and supportive of their learning, and the students are very motivated to learn. They are caring and helpful to one another and work well when collaborating in groups. The school in which I teach is one of the oldest schools in our district. We have worked hard to try and keep up with technology, but since the school is not new, we are not as equipped as newer schools. Teachers at our school are enthusiastic and motivated to keep up with the 21st century.

My Project

I have requested a television, Apple TV, a Mac Book Pro, and a wireless mouse as well as accessories necessary for set up and connection to create a system in our classroom. I am so excited to think about the possibilities for our students and teacher with this technology request. It will become a part of our school and will serve my students as well as many future classrooms of students. It will be used daily, not just as a teaching tool to teach math, science, language and writing, but as part of a system that students will learn to use and navigate themselves. Students will work individually and in groups to create and present projects and informational reports. Students will be reporting and presenting weekly on events about history as well as local, national, and world news. The technology I am requesting for our class will bring us into the 21st century and my students can learn to use technology to its fullest!

With this grant I hope to supply my classroom with the utmost technology to help my students to become inspired and successful in the future.

The possibilities are there. We need to inspire and motivate our students to see and practice the possibilities. We must prepare them for the future. They need these tools in their classrooms. They need to continually grow with the world around them.
