I work in a Title 1 school in a very small town in Tennessee. Many of my students do not have Internet or any type of technology at home. I have one student computer in my classroom, but one computer is not enough for 23 students.
Most of my students come from a lower economic background.
I have many students that cannot afford basic supplies. My students love using technology in the classroom, but having just one computer for them makes it somewhat difficult to allow all students this privilege on a daily basis. I have personally bought two used iPods for my classroom this summer so that my students have more opportunities to use technology in the classroom, but would like these Kindle's so that I can have 4-5 students using technology at the same time during centers.
My Project
I am asking for help in purchasing two Kindle Fires for my classroom. I would like to use these Kindle's in my classroom on a daily basis to assist with student learning in both math and reading centers. I incorporate Daily 5 in both Reading and Math in to each day's lesson. Daily 5 is a way for me to be able to meet with small groups and provide more attention during those groups. While I am working with these groups I want my students to be able to use technology to further their learning through online educational math and reading games.
These Kindles will allow my student's to have that much needed access to technology.
The Kindle's would be used daily to help my student's grow academically through furthering their learning. For many of my student's the only access they have to technology is at school. I would like to ensure that all my student's are receiving equal access to this technology on a daily basis.
