Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in my class were retained in third grade for the 2017-2018 school year. Their self-esteem is low, especially when they see their peers who have been promoted to the next grade. The demographics of the school is 90% Hispanic. Most students are from Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and right here in the neighborhood. This is a Title I school which means 99% of the students are on free lunch. The social economic status is poor. These students' parents do not know English which makes it hard for the student to retain the language. The students here need help in comprehension, phonics, and grammar.

My Project

Technology Accessories is a project that will enable each child to access their educational program in the classroom. The main emphasis of the program is to build confidence when taking assessments and acquiring skills when doing program practices. If funded this project will help students access their technology programs faster. Each students will be given a headphone and a mouse to maneuver through the program. Some programs are timed. This will give each student equal access to each program that is required by the State and by the District. This project will enable them to move through the program quicker, confident, and with success.
