I have a very busy and active group of first graders that strive to do their best everyday. They love technology and the ability to use it to further their learning.
Through the use of a blended learning approach, learners in my classroom would be able to develop individual learning plans that include more of their interests.
This would also increase their engagement and achievement in a more customized and proficiently based learning environment. Technology allows learners to engage in personalized learning experiences throughout their day. There is no doubt that teacher lead learning activities are incredibly powerful for little learners, but we, as teachers, are unable to meet the needs of every student at every moment.
My Project
With 8 tablets and cases in my classroom of 18, my first grader students could work in small groups and independently. This would allow them to work on literacy and mathematic programs to help reinforce their learning and standards. They could also use tablets for re-teaching and re-enforcement for concepts previously taught. The students in my classroom could complete personalized interactive lessons to keep their engagement level high. Some apps students will be on daily are DreamBox, Lexia Learning, ABC Mouse, and many more.
In order for education to move away from the industrial age education systems, learners need the tools at their fingertips to meet their personalized learning goals.
With up to date technology in our classroom learners will be able to access learning instantly. No matter what their learning goals are, technology will enable them learn, network and gain the proficiencies they need in order to meet those goals right now and in the future.
