Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In a neighborhood where violence is an everyday part of life, school becomes so much more than just a place to learn. The students in my classroom recognize the value of an education as a means to a positive future and, hopefully, someday a safer community as well.
Our students are English Language Learners in an urban neighborhood.
School is their safe haven and a place where they can focus on a positive future. They are eager to learn and take pride in the investment of others in their education.
My Project
Our students have begun to experience coding via multiple resources including google coding and scratch. However some of our learners are struggling. My hope is that introducing a Botley coding robot will help my more visual and kinesthetic learners. I want them to experience the academic benefits and value of coding. It will also help to lessen the frustration for those student who are struggling with coding and help them feel the pride that comes with successful projects. I also hope that even those who’s are excelling at coding will see the benefits of coding without being behind a screen.
