Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 42 students at a Title I school in Port Arthur, Texas. Our demographics are quite diverse, but one thing most of my students share is the fact that they are all mostly from low-income homes. Some of my students have unstable home lives and our classroom is their safe space, happy place, and/or the only stable factor in their lives. This is why I strive to be able to provide my students with as much as I can.

This years pandemic and hurricanes has made it for a difficult year of teaching/learning, but my kids curiosity, enthusiasm, and creativity helps them face any challenge the year has thrown at them.

My group this year is composed of ELLs and GT students therefore their energy towards learning is amazing. They love learning from one another and challenging each other. The only challenge we are facing is not having the necessary resources to ensure their learning continues even when we are completely virtual.

My Project

These tablets will allow my students to participate in total virtual learning when those circumstance happen. When we had to shut down for COVID related reasons I had several students that I was not able to interact act with because they have no device.

These tablets will ensure that their learning can be continues regardless of the circumstance.

Our classes are hybrid at the time, we teach the students face to face, but their assignments are on the school platform, Schoology. These devices will allow them to review the necessary materials for each lesson, complete their assignments, and enhance their learning through research projects.
