I teach First Grade at a wonderful school that is full of great students! We are a Title I school and have a high percentage of students who are receiving free breakfast and lunch daily. My students are caring, outgoing, and creative first graders. We are an elementary school in the only district in Missouri without a racial majority. Our school has very limited materials and resources. I have a vast variety of learners, who come from different ethnicity's and socioeconomic levels. My students come to school every day ready to learn. They enjoy learning new things and are not afraid to take risks. They love to read and love lots of positive attention. When my students come to school, I provide them with a positive learning environment. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire my students to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
We are requesting an Apple iPad Mini to use as a daily enrichment tool, as well as a tool for interventions; it will create an opportunity for cooperative learning and student independence with the touch of a fingertip! My first graders will have the opportunity to conduct research on the iPads, create video lessons, create presentations, and learn with our interactive Osmo. Additionally, students in my class will have the ability to enhance their reading, writing, math, and science skills. They will learn how to operate the technology independently, and then they will have the ability to demonstrate their learning through the use of this technology. An iPad Mini will help bring our learning into the twenty-first century!
