My students need laptops to complete their blended learning math and reading programs, which provide them with additional practice necessary to progress and succeed.

Each morning I am greeted by 25 smiling faces, eager to share and learn. My students attend a low-income, low-performing school in the Southwest region of Washington, D.C. Our school is vastly underfunded and we lack basic and necessary resources to support our students. My students are multiple grade levels behind in reading and math and are in need of intensive instruction and support.
Despite the many challenges and obstacles they face, my students have an enthusiasm and determination to succeed.
Each of my students adds their unique strengths and personalities to our classroom family. Our classroom is a second home for us all, where we learn to be kind, compassionate and thoughtful, where we are brave risk takers, imaginative readers, creative scientists, and inquisitive mathematicians.
A-B ES is a Title 1, DC Public School, in Washington D.C. My school is labeled a 40/40 school, meaning that it is one of the lowest performing public schools in DC, and most high need. 100 percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school is gravely underfunded and under resourced, however, my students are expected to compete with students in other high-income and highly resourced schools across the district. Despite the expectation that our students receive time on these programs daily, our school does not have the technology necessary to provide our students with these experiences, and instead heavily relies on donations.
Many of our blended learning programs, particularly in math, require students to have daily access to technology to complete their online lessons, which provide them with additional and necessary practice to support teacher-led lessons.
We are currently living in a world in which technology provides us with many important experiences and knowledge. With these laptops my students will be able to complete their online programs daily which will drastically improve their knowledge and help them progress and succeed, as well as gain experiences and knowledge that they would not otherwise have.
