I know my students very well because I was their teacher last year in fourth grade. I have decided to loop with most of my students to fifth grade this year. Having the opportunity to work with my kids last year I learned that all of them love technology! They honestly can't get enough of using them to read, make PowerPoints, and complete interactive assignments. Whenever they have the opportunity to use one of the two tablets they seem enthusiastic about the task in front of them. They are truly an awesome group of kids and I would love to give them the resources they need to reach their full potential!
Two years ago our PTA was able to get two tablets for each classroom and they were an instant success with the kids!
The general consensus is....they want more! I truly feel they help the kids stay engaged and helps differentiate for each of their needs.
My Project
My kids will use the Amazon tablets on a daily basis to help reach their different needs. My kids love going on MyOn to read and this year I plan to use more reading/writing apps to keep them excited about reading. This school year I plan to incorporate News-O-Matic, articles are written specifically for kids, to help inform them of what is going on in the world around them and sneaking in reading comprehension. As a teacher you have to adapt to the changing world around you and technology is the way to do it. We will dive into many great books this year and I will use the tablets to connect to the reading and help keep them engaged.
