My students need an iPad station with protective cases to enhance phonics and math instruction with fun apps and games! "The strength of technology is the ability for teachers to differentiate instruction." Tom Lindly My classroom is a fun, energetic learning environment full of fun in learning!
Kindergarten is such an important year in a child’s educational journey.
I want to build a strong foundation for each of my students in kindergarten so they may move forward and have successful school careers. Out of my 22 students, I have children that need to be challenged with enrichment activities, as well as students that need intensive intervention. Along with my regular ed students, I also have students with learning disabilities. I feel I have a unique perspective, being that in some cases, I get to witness a child’s first experience in school. My school is a Title 1 school, meaning a large percentage of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students live in poverty and come to school only to dread going back home into the chaos of what they know as reality. It is my goal to make my classroom as appealing and inviting as possible. By funding this project, my students will get a chance to experience using technology they might otherwise not have access to.
During our small group reading and math rotations, my students always enjoy working on the computers. Unfortunately, we don’t have as many resources as I would like for them to have. At this time, we currently have six desktop computers that which is not quite enough for my large class. My largest group of students during our reading small groups has seven students. Having the option to put students on a tablet when the computers are full would be highly motivating and give them access to new technology. Having iPads with protective cases will be a valuable resource for my students to use for years to come. Interactive games and apps will give my students the extra practice and enrichment they need to be successful while at the same time serving as a motivational tool. Students will be able to rotate through small group centers and enjoy the excitement of learning and practicing skills on a tablet.
Times are ever changing!
In a world that is so heavily infused with technology, it is imperative to integrate technology with students starting when they are young. In a classroom filled with a group of diverse kindergarten learners, iPads can have a great impact on their learning! Giving these children an early start is the best way to jump start a successful academic career! Donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you for supporting our students! - Mrs. K
