My students are bright, inquisitive and eager learners. I consider my students to be a "bevy of knowledge" and very interesting in their thoughts and diverse backgrounds. We achieve many successes in class on a daily basis and credit all of this on the mutual respect and kindness to each and every person in our classroom as well as the students' growth mindset. We collaborate as a group as encourage engagement at the utmost level. We use a Culturally Responsive model in our classroom to engage students from every diverse background and celebrate their unique and special traditions and viewpoints.
My Project
Technology is something that is truly lacking at our school and we would like to increase the students' opportunities for exposure to the digital layout of our society. We are establishing a new STEM based approach to support our current curriculum. We are creating projects and utilizing parent volunteers to facilitate our newly formed STEM program. Moving forward, all third grade classes would like to be equipped with a Makerspace area. These will include books related to STEM, STEM bins, and, of course, technology. We have received support and a generous donation to help with the STEM supplies. We are in need of technology. Our goal is to create an initiative to transform students' thinking through technology and digital resources. This will allow for deeper content involvement of STEM. The six iPads we are requesting will be used in conjunction with our STEM lessons. They will be used during the Science Inquiry Cycle as well as the Engineering Design process; specifically during the planning and researching phase of the lesson, and assist in the drawing of conclusions and recording the results. We believe this addition to our curriculum will create a culture of innovation and job creation in the future. This will eventually help to make them more competitive in the global economy.
