Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a vibrant group of seniors eagerly awaiting graduation in the spring. Some are still struggling to pass the five state mandated End-of-Course tests required for graduation while some are just finishing up the last of their required courses.
Such a diverse group requires me to come up with innovative ways to check their understanding while still engaging the interest of those who think they have got it all already.
Our school is equipped with Wi-Fi which is available in all the buildings, but some of my students do not have internet capable devices to enable them to access this resource.
My Project
Chromebooks are the wave of the future in the world of education. The English department lost access to the computer lab this year, and, in an effort to keep up with the use of Google Classroom, my students need access in the class. Our campus is a Bring Your Own Device campus, but not all students have phones that can adequately access the internet.
Chromebooks will allow students who are unable to access Google Docs on their phones or tablets to take advantage of all the supports offered in Docs such as writing, revising, and editing.
My students participate and engage more through Google Classroom than ever before; they need the means to take their learning as far as it can go.
