My students need an Epson LCD projector to play fitness videos for them to workout to.
Students also need nine various weight medicine balls to perform many of the strength exercises we do.
Some of my students really struggle to find exercise fun and I want to show them that it can be. My hope is that by showing zumba videos and other intriguing videos, the students will see how lifelong exercise really can be enjoyable.
Our school is very high poverty which provides us with specific challenges.
My students are eager and ready to improve their fitness levels and make strides towards healthier selves. They come to class enthusiastic and positive. I want to serve them the best that I can, but I need access to more equipment. I want to show my students that exercise and fitness can be more than running in circles or lifting weights. We don't' have a lot of resources, but we make do with what we have.
My Project
My students need an Epson LCD projector to play fitness videos for them to workout to.
Students also need nine various weight medicine balls to perform many of the strength exercises we do. My students really want to be able to do Zumba and Jillian Michaels' videos, but I don't have a projector to show them. The projector is the main focus of this project, however, we'd love to add additional medicine balls to the very small collection we currently have. We use medicine balls weekly and simply don't have enough.
This project will help my students by showing them just how fun and enjoyable exercising can be.
Zumba allows them to be themselves and be silly. Together as a class they will laugh and practice their new skills through the videos I can show with the projector. I know this will help them develop confidence in themselves. The medicine balls will help them develop their arm, leg and core strength, which is so important, especially for the young women I teach. This will give my students resources for now and later to become their best healthy self.
