My students are hard-working young people with a genuine desire to learn and grow. Our school consists of a highly diverse population of motivated students. Many of them come from other countries and have only recently immigrated to America; many others come from families of low socioeconomic status. A large proportion of my students come from homes in which they will be the first to graduate from high school and attend college. They value and appreciate education and they understand that education is the key to a successful and happy future. They are hard-working and many of them are very involved in both academic and extracurricular programs that they feel will help them further themselves. However, many of them lack the resources that they need to be successful. Our school community continually strives to provide as much support as possible to our students, but many students still lack even basic access to technology outside of school.
In my special education classroom, I want to continue providing my students with the best technology, resources, and seating arrangements to help stimulate learning.
My Project
These resources will greatly help my students on a daily basis. My students are transitioning to one-to-one technology, so having personal headphones is important to help make learning more accessible during school.
Providing my students with alternative seating arrangements will significantly impact their ability to work in my classroom.
Let's face it, sitting in standard high school desks is uncomfortable! If they are able to move around and regain focus this way, it will make a huge difference in their success.
A majority students in my school have very little in their personal lives. My coworkers and team do our best to provide what we can to give the students the best education they can.
