Technology Access to Education in COVID for Students with Autism
Help me give my students access to technology through the use of the Samsung tablet. Rec leisure is important to my students independence in life and in the work place Legos is one of my students preferred activities.
I work at a Delaware public school for children with Autism. This population has unique needs and my students have unique personalities. They enjoy building, socializing, music, sensory items, and so much more. These needs of my students have been difficult to meet during this unprecedented time and would benefit from as much support as I can provide.
My Project
My students struggle to social distance in the classroom providing them with individual access to leisure activities will increase their independence as well as safety.
The use of resources from TpT will help increase my students' ability to be successful at home.
Many of my students need access to instruction at home for daily living instruction to make their time at home more successful and increase their independence. In the classroom seat sacks will increase independence by having the materials needed for work at their finger tips. Additionally, many of the TpT resources provide much need resources that are made by fellow teachers that will allow me to give my students more time devoted to them with quality instructional tools. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A and Amazon - Fire will be used to provide instruction using Boom Cards as well as for down time to increase independence during free time. For many of us it is easy to enjoy down time on our own but for my students accessing downtime independently is not always accessible. Two of my students can use a touch screen but do not have access to one in the classroom. Providing them with these tablets will increase their independence during free time as well as academic time.
