My Students

Our school strives to provide excellent learning opportunities for each student. Each child that enters my classroom brings his/her own unique set of abilities, strengths, and talents. More than 75% of our students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch. Out of the 70 students I teach each day, 1/3 receive specialized instruction. Another 1/3 of my students are bilingual as well.

These fifth graders enjoy using technology to practice reading, writing and literacy skills.

Many of my students do not have technology available at home. My fifth graders need experience with technology on a daily basis in order to adapt to an ever-changing world.

My Project

My students need to keep up with the ever-changing pace of the technology world. These Chromebooks will allow my students to do just that. Currently, our classroom has one laptop that is too old to be updated. Therefore, any research or reading skills practice that could be done with the aide of technology is painfully slow.

Introducing Chromebooks into my classroom will extend traditional literacy experiences and provide equal opportunities to all students.

Research has found that connections to the Internet in the classroom help students build background knowledge they may not otherwise have, as well as increase student engagement with more diverse reading and writing opportunities.
