My Students
Many of my students come from low-income households in a very urban community in North Carolina. My school is Title I where almost all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Students may be facing tough situations at home, financial, social, or physical.
Yet, every day, they come to school ready and eager to learn.
They are greeted by passionate and caring teachers that put their heart and soul into every lesson they teach, academic and life lessons. I feel lucky to work with these teachers and students daily.
My Project
I'm asking for four Chromebooks with cases and management consoles so that my students are able to use technology in my classroom.
While being creative and critical thinkers, we will use the Chromebooks to develop and enhance technology skills.
We do many projects in my room that require students to be able to do research and create authentic products using web 2.0 tools (Google Docs and Slides, Prezi, etc.). It is helpful to have computers in the classroom so students have easy access when working on projects or exploring their curiosity.
Some may be able to work on computers at home but the majority of our students come from a low-income neighborhood meaning many of my students don't have regular access to technology at home. Much of their screen time comes during the school day. Making this time a meaningful learning experience is a top priority for me. Please help me to prepare my students for the 21st century.
