My students need an additional iPad for out technology center and an iPad charging station to keep our iPads charged for the 60+ students who use them daily.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in the largest and most racially and linguistically diverse elementary schools in Oakland. We are a close knit school community. We are a high poverty area and most students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. My students come from families speaking over twenty-six different languages. Many of them do not have English language support at home.
In my class, there are a variety of learning styles and academic levels that need to be addressed.
My students come to school each day eager to love to explore and learn new things. They put their best foot forward everyday.
My Project
I use iPads in a variety of ways in my classroom. Everyone learns differently. The iPads enable endless opportunities to create hands-on, customizable, learning experiences for my students. The iPads also help with the many newcomer students who do not speak English. There are a variety of apps targeted to help them acquire language, math, and literacy skills through individualized programs and having enough iPads for all students is imperative.
The charging station will ensure all the iPads remain charged so all 60+ students can have equal access throughout the day.
The iPads are used constantly throughout the day and keeping all of them charged is a must!
