Ms. Madgett from Atlanta GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the tablet and camera for increased access to technology and curriculum while inside/outside of the inclusion and resource classroom settings.

Technology is our future and so are our children. My students require one-to-one instruction often. Students having increased access to technology will help tremendously in closing the achievement gap.
My students attend a Title I middle school, located in Atlanta, Georgia.
They have a wide range of disabilities. Many of them are hard workers and want to perform on the same level as their peers. These students desire to be the best they can, but often times need a little more assistance to reach their goals.
I teach students with a wide range of disabilities, inside and outside of the general education classrooms. My students require a lot of one-to-one teacher instruction and it can become difficult to access technology when working with them on an individual basis. In addition, my students can become very insecure about their deficits when working in proximity to their peers; in turn, they prefer to work alone. I am requesting a Samsung Tablet because it will provide me an opportunity to work with my students on an individual basis without removing them from the general education setting. Moreover, my students will have increased access to technology and the curriculum, but at their finger tips without feeling embarrassed. The digital camera I am requesting is a tool needed to teach my students how to become digital story tellers. When students are able to tell a story by using a movie/slide show they created, their writing improves, they have a voice, and learning is personal and fun.
As an educator, it is my duty to provide my students with tools that will help them become productive citizens.
This project is important to me because I believe all children should receive the best education and have an opportunity be the best scholars; regardless of ability.
