My Students
As a teacher in a low income/ high poverty community, I see that my students are faced with many challenges inside as well as outside the classroom. Despite these challenges, I try to provide my students with rich learning opportunities that they otherwise would not get a chance to experience. Many of my students live in homeless shelters, dirty and run down city housing authority apartments, and have seen and experienced more negative experiences and trauma in their short lives than any person should have to face at all.
My Project
Having a reliable set of headphones for our classroom laptops and classroom iPads will help my students to access computer programs to improve their academics such as reading and math. Programs such as I-Ready, ABC Mouse, and Teach Your Monster to Read are examples of computer and iPads programs my students use in the classroom. Many of my students are far below grade level, and programs such as these help my students work on skills on their independent level. These headphones will be very useful to my students to use during small group instruction as well as independent work time to access computer programs and apps on the iPad.
