Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are four and five years old and for many of them it is their first school experience. They are inquisitive, smart, and kind students who need positive role models and positive first school experiences to ensure their success.
My students are enthusiastic learners who greet me with a smile every morning, making it a joy to come to work.
They come from a working class community, where school is often the only place to interact with peers their age. In my classroom, I try to provide as many opportunities as possible for my students to have enriching experiences that will make them love school.
My Project
Students in my community often don't have access to educational games and apps that could further their learning greatly. With gang violence so close to home, and fewer opportunities for learning once they get home, their time in the classroom is essential and must be utilized wisely.
Technology is the future, and so are my students.
They deserve to be well-versed in the use of technology appropriate for their age, and they deserve to know that there are fun games available for them to play on the tablet that don't include violence, guns, or explosions.
Early education is all about learning through play. Time and time again it has been proven that children who play more, learn more. Children also learn through songs and engaging games and activities, all of which can be provided in a few minutes of working at the technology learning station in our classroom. The iPads I am requesting would serve a great purpose in my students' education.
