Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Chicago Public School located on the Southwest side of Chicago.
My second grade students deserve to become users of an important part of the academics arsenal of gadgets.
I would like to engage my students more so than ever by making learning more modern and interactive. My students will use the iPads to create mind-blowing experiences and endless learning possibilities.
My class is 22 students who are all English language learners.
They are between the ages of 7 to 8 years old. My second grade students are eager to learn. 97.7% of the school population is of low income. The largest demographic is Hispanic.
My Project
My students need four iPads to utilize the augmented reality application platform to support their learning. With the Augmented Technology, my students will be able to read and interact with ebook technology that utilizes audio, video, and animation to bring their lessons to life. provides yet another dimension to expand their learning.
My young readers will be motivated to learn using their iPads.
The students will be able to take charge of their learning by helping create interactive lessons using the Augmented reality. In these lessons, students would be able to tap on words to hear them read aloud or have the word animated to encourage interactive learning. This can support reading books they are interested and reading independently without the help of a teacher.
Please help my students unleash an engagement in learning.
This donation will help me personalized apps that will keep my English learners engaged. This project will help accelerate my students reading development, improve comprehension, and get excited about learning.
More than likely these devices are not accessible to this community and my students. I can already see a number of positive developments with your support. My most reluctant readers will be an avid page turner- all because of an iPad!
