This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a nation, we are becoming more and more dependent on technology. Yet every day, teachers ask students to make sure their phones and other electronic devices are out of sight.

Technology can help teachers prepare students for the real world while also keeping them engaged in the classroom.

Electronic devices in the classroom are valuable, but as a Title 1 school, we have limited access to technology. My students are amazing. They come to class daily eager to learn and are extremely excited when the lesson calls for the use of computers. My campus serves a low income area so a large number of my students only get to use technology at school. However, I refuse to create a less challenging learning environment because of it. My students are challenged every day to do their best at everything they do in hopes that they will be capable and ready to complete with students in any other community.

My Project

My students really will benefit from more technology in the classroom. We are requesting help purchasing Fire HD Tablets to strengthen their math skills with math drills and assessments online. Technology in the classroom will also make a huge difference for my students who do not have access at home. Additionally, I am requesting more technology to help the students who are not always comfortable asking questions in class. They will be able to go back and review skills they did not master without any other students knowing.

Donations to my project will bring a new energy for learning to the classroom.

My students will be given the opportunity to learn in a different way and at their own pace. The tablets will also keep students engaged while giving me an opportunity to pull small groups of students for re-teaching.
