Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students value education and are eager to learn. Most of them come early in the morning to complete assignments from the previous day and use the computers. They want to be the best they can ever be, and I respect them for that.
My students demography is diverse.
They are eager to learn and are always ready to do what is asked of them. Their parents work very hard and are honest. Some have two jobs to make ends meet, while making sure that their children get a good education.
My school (teachers, administrators, & PTA) tries to meet students' needs at best, but much more needs to be done. Technological tools like an iPad can reinforce concepts already taught, while learning new skills. My students are highly motivated, and constantly asks: what is next? what can we do? Likewise, some come up with wonderful ideas that would make their school year successful. I want to meet this challenge that they pose in being always ready to tackle new ideas to bring the best out of them.
My Project
The iPad Air will be used in a center to reinforce concepts already learned in math, science, and social studies. In addition, students will develop technological skills with hands-on experience using the different educational apps that already exist. For example, students can use math facts apps to build fluency, they can compete for efficiency in answering math, science, and social studies questions.
Brain pop is an educational app that covers different academic areas, and can help reinforce the different skills that are necessary for students to understand concepts taught in class. This app is already available for the iPad, among others. The iPad Air will give us that type of access in the classroom.
My project will make a difference, because students will be exposed to a tool that will allow them to work easier.
They will know the working of an iPad, and learn how to use the different educational apps to reinforce concepts they learned in class, in addition to developing new skills that will be useful in life.
