This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a community of globally-minded learners in grades 6 through 8 venturing into new territory with a new course called Design. We will be discovering the concepts involved in all aspects of imagining, prototyping and testing physical and digital products using the design cycle. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic situations, but generally have not had access to the tools, devices and software often found in wealthier districts.

In our increasingly complex global society, our scholars will need specialized skills and access to the technology that will define the next generation's innovations and careers.

With your help, we can put inquiry-based learning into action with everything we need to be successful.

My Project

This year our school has instituted a new course called Design. It is meant to help students work through the process of developing and evaluating both physical and digital products. The curriculum allows a lot of freedom for what we choose to design, and hopefully, we can use the course to discuss solutions to real problems affecting students and their communities.

Having Chromebook computers to access the digital resources available through the internet will change the game for our Design class, allowing students to work with CAD programs used in STEM fields today.

Your donation will expose kids to the tools that will be applicable in so many fields and give them a taste of the exciting world of digital design.
