Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Education is evolving due to the impact of the Internet. We cannot teach our students in the same manner in which we were taught (Chamberlain)." Educators must seek out new knowledge with regards to how students learn best. Attending conferences based on research proven strategies is a necessity.
I have been teaching Kindergarten in a low income school for nearly nine years.
A group of teachers, along with myself, will be attending a literacy conference this spring. Unfortunately, we do not have the funding necessary to purchase the technology necessary for fully implementing the literacy programs.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad for me to use during the Reggie Routman training that I will be attending this spring. The iPad will be used with the applications we will learn about in my professional development for literacy. Additional work will be supported by the iPad including data review, intervention plans, and researching learning activities that engage children. I am requesting a keyboard and a case to support ease of use while also ensuring the iPad is protected. The tripod and microphone will assist my work in correlation with the recommendations that will be provided at the upcoming training including the collection of read aloud samples by the students.
Using these tools along with the new learning will allow me to review student achievement data quickly and efficiently.
Time will be gained through the use of the iPad which will enable me to gather data and plan interventions in an expedient manner. Student needs will be identified and addressed with more accuracy and efficiency once I attend the training and with the support of the tools requested with this project.
