I teach in a rural school with approximately 620 students. Up to 45% of students at my school are eligible for free or reduced lunch. I have the honor of teaching 21 superstar kindergartners who come to school ready to learn every day, each with their own set of strengths and needs. They come from multiple backgrounds with multiple experiences, but they are all ready and willing to learn.
Kindergartners are amazing.
They are constantly thinking, engaging, and talking about their learning. It's a thrill watching them learn and grown into future leaders as they interact with technology.
My Project
I am requesting donations for the purchase of one iPad and iPad case to add to the existing ones we already have. We use these daily during literacy and math stations, but often students have to share an iPad due to the limited number available to us.
With iPads, the world is at our fingertips!
Some of the ways students use our iPads include:
-practicing math skills through engaging, interactive online manipulatives
-scanning QR codes to work on multiple meaningful math and literacy activities
-accessing school-wide subscriptions to math and literacy technology-based programs that provide differentiated instruction and practice
-practicing keyboarding skills, as well as number and letter recognition
-engaging in online read alouds while building word recognition and fluency
