Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As I gear up for the upcoming new school year, I’m attempting to give my students (and our department) the ultimate gift—the technological tools my school cannot afford due to budget constraints and reduced federal, state and local funding. Unfortunately, for our students (who live in inner city Philadelphia) the story about school funding has not changed much in the last decade. They still have to learn with fewer educational resources and tools—despite growing achievement gaps, increasing focus on standardized tests, and mounting competition in the post-secondary world—it’s the unfair reality. Yet, each year I am awed by the resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit my students possess.
My Project
I’ve created a wish list of technology items to connect, engage, and prepare students for learning in the 21st century. I’ve partnered with the Donors Choose nonprofit—by funding this project, you’d be helping to provide the technological tools and information my students need to be successful in Advanced Placement, Honors and College-Prep courses. Every donation or product purchase, no matter the size, will put my students one step closer to having the technology they need to learn and grow.
