Ms. Cunningham from Sunrise FL is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need one-to-one technology in order to compete in this world. This also cuts down on expenses for making copies because they can complete assignments directly on the computer. WE need chrome books.

My kids are a diverse group of 4th and 5th graders who share the fact that they come from homes where most of the families struggle financially. Our school is designated Title I, with almost all students receiving free and reduced-price lunches. The parents are involved to the best of their abilities, as their work and our school schedules don't always match up, so volunteers and donations are not plentiful, but they try!
I try to teach them the value of hard work and learning as much as you can in order to get ahead.
Technology will allow me to bring the world to them in the classroom since many of them will not have the opportunity to see the world. Giving them access to a technological education now will prepare them for what the world will expect of them in the future. They need to know more than just how to play games on the computer.
The use of computers is a daily activity in my classroom and all of our lives in general. Using computers is a necessary skill in order to survive in today's world. My students complete work in all subjects as well as do research and create projects on school laptops. The problem is having enough computers for each child in your classroom. Our school has six fourth grade classes and one computer cart that we share. Beyond that, each teacher has five to eight computers in their classroom. Some work, some don't. I want to offer them so much more, but financially I cannot purchase 22 computers. I am hoping to create enough projects to eventually have one-to-one technology in my classroom.
By donating to our project, you are not only helping to bring technology to children who need it, you are ultimately helping to increase their academic achievement now and in the future.
Students will be able to complete academic tasks that will help them in school now and at work in the future. In the technologically savvy world we live in, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use new technology!
