Tech-tastic Classes for Kids
My students need 2 Lenovo tablets to support project based learning, increase student engagement, output and achievement while improving skills.
Technology in the classroom is one of the most effective way to reach the students of today. Technology also allows teachers immediate feed back and helps to further improve the quality of classroom instruction. It supports projects and research, quizzes and assessments, class discussions and much more.
My students are the most awesome kids ever.
Still, many do not have access to the technology that could open their minds to a whole other world in a brand new way. Many of my students are considered economically disadvantaged and are on free and reduced lunch. I have taught homeless, transient, and abused students as well as students with a variety of other issues. Many of my students simply struggle academically for a multitude of reasons. But, they all respond to technology. Knowing this, when I look at them I do not see them as troubled unreachable kids. I see them as students for whom I have the opportunity to help become someone greater than they ever imagined. I see their potential and they are bursting with it.
In the world of all things tech classrooms are no different. Students today enjoy working with technology and it continues to be an awesome way to engage them in ideas that might otherwise bore them. The 2 Lenovo tablets we are requesting will be used to support project based learning and flipped classroom experiences which allow students to learn new information on their own then discuss that new learning as a class. Students will also view presentations, photos, video and other media used to support learning experiences. In addition, they will also complete individual and group projects as well as participating in collaborative challenges. Several classroom based apps have been identified and will be used on a regular bases. Of those apps two will be used most frequently. They are Nearpod and Socrative. These apps allow students to experience real time class room discussion, and encourages students to share new ideas and opinions. Students can work with the teacher or at their own pace.
Sometimes the greatest difference one can make in the life of another is in offering an opportunity which might not have been experience otherwise.
Through supporting this project you can make that difference. We are all special stars in our own way. I'm a star that develops future stars. You can be a star that supports future stars. And who knows what those little stars will achieve. We are counting on you.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
