Mrs. Litcofsky from Sumter SC is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need technology to enhance their learning environment. This camera will allow me to record lessons and post them for students to review as well as allow students to record themselves for assignments.

Students come to my classroom from all walks of life. Some have been given the opportunity to travel the world with their military families, and others have never left the town they live in. I teach special education students, English language learners, college prep students, and honors level students.
Our school is Title I.
100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Some students can't afford to buy the necessary supplies for class, and some come to class everyday without something to write with. This year students have had to deal with larger class sizes, some reaching or exceeding 40 students. Even with these challenges our students are learning and excelling. I hope this project can help me help my students succeed.
US History is a content-laden course and missing one day of content can set students up for long-term struggles in the course. Students miss class for a variety of reasons, including sickness and school field trips. I teach in a district where some of our students are forced to grow up young, fend for themselves, and help take care of their siblings and household. Sometimes my students miss school, not because they want to, but because they have no other choice.
Nothing can replace active attendance in class, but through the use of video technology students who are absent can get the next best thing; a video of the day's lesson.
Video recording lessons will allow my students to hear the same lecture, listen to the interactions and questions of their peers, and engage in the learning through a different medium.
This technology also means that students can find new ways to demonstrate what they've learned. Students are growing up in a world where technology is everywhere. This video camera, tripod, and memory card will allow students to tap into their creative sides and learn important life skills.
