My students love to learn and often times get frustrated when the phone rings and we have to stop or when someone needs me for a quick second, and that makes them a very unique group of kids.
During our Part of Our World time, students have often said they’re favorite part of their day is “coming to school to learn with Mrs. Smith” or “learning with my friends.”
Their favorite time of the day is reading and math rotations. They get the opportunity to work in small groups and figure things out on their own and with their peers. Their work conversations are adorable and uplifting. They are so willing to become "teacher aides" and "problem solvers" during their rotations to make everyone in our room be successful.
My students need chromebooks in the classroom. Since we're "only Kindergarten" we aren't getting the computers that we need in order to teach our students their math skills, or the reading programs that they can access during reading centers and math centers. As of right now, there are 2 working laptops from the early 2000's in our room and those are barely hanging on.
When we have to have a technology center, but we don't get the resources for it, and the students have to fight for a computer to do their reading assignments, it's heartbreaking.
They WANT to do their reading assignments. They WANT to do their math games.
They WANT to read their books and earn their stars, but they CAN'T since there's only 2 computers that they have to share.
Please help them get those reading and math skills and have the enjoy learning and become successful!
